Volunteer

  • Trail work

While COTA’s staff guide the planning and strategy, it’s our volunteers who bring the work to life on the trails. No special skills or experience are needed—just a willingness to get your hands dirty and enjoy the outdoors while giving back. Each month offers new opportunities, from clearing brush and repairing trail surfaces to improving signage. We’ve welcomed volunteers of all ages—from parents with kids as young as five to community members well into their 80s. Trail work truly is for everyone!

  • Committees

COTA’s board, staff, and volunteers lead seven major committees, each guiding a core part of our work—from trail planning and fundraising to community engagement and more. If you’d like to support COTA without getting your hands dirty on the trails, joining a committee is a great way to make an impact.

  • Board of Directors

COTA’s Board plays a vital role in shaping the future of our organization. Board members guide our long-term vision, set strategic plans, budgets, and goals, and help decide which projects we take on and how we grow. The Board is made up of 15 seats, including the Executive Committee, Chapter Liaisons, and Members-at-Large. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a wide range of experiences, perspectives, and skills to the table. Serving on the Board is a meaningful way to give back to the trail community—using your leadership and expertise to ensure that Central Oregon’s trails continue to thrive for generations to come.
