Corporate & Community Group Events
Interested in getting out with your employees (or students or members of your organization) for a volunteer team building event or community service project working on mountain biking trails here in Central Oregon? You’ve come to the right place. COTA has been building and maintaining trails since 1992. We are a non-profit organization that focuses on the development, protection, and enhancement of the Central Oregon mountain biking experience. This goal is achieved through trail stewardship, advocacy, collaboration, and education. COTA currently has 6 chapters, who collectively maintain over 600 miles of singletrack trails! The bulk of COTA’s work is done through the hands of our volunteers, with over 18,000 hours of work completed in 2023.
We have plenty of opportunities to get your group out in the fresh air, building and/or maintaining local trails. We provide a team leader, tools, hard hats and a work plan for the event. Just keep in mind, we’re a 100% volunteer organization so these events depend on our volunteers' schedules.

Below is some information for volunteer work parties:
- Our work events generally run for three hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. If you are interested in volunteering for a full day, we will include a lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00. (lunch is not provided)
- Trail work is strenuous work, BUT no experience is needed! We use of shovels, vegetation tools, rock bars and other hand tools. Those with back, shoulder, or other injuries should be aware of the physical requirements prior to attending the event.
- The ideal group size is 6-12 people with a max group size of 20 people and is dependent on COTA Crew Leader availability. If your group is larger than 20, we can discuss some work party options.
- Our main trail work season is dependent on snow coverage, frozen ground, weather and wildfire smoke. We are typically able to do trail work late-April through June and then again in September through October.
